We Got Time Today is a contemporary Pep Rally Fight song piece. I have always been
a competitor from when I was a young child all the way through college, and what I have
learned along the way is this, every school has a fight song. The beauty of technology,
especially YouTube, is it allows us to share on-demand experiences with each other that
we may have missed due to our busy lives, for example, I never attended a HBCU but I
love the southern soulful sound of Jackson State University, Southern University,
Tuskegee University and there so many others, but I’m always blown away with how the
band sounds. So I decided to sit down in the studio one day to attempt to create my
own fight. While I was doing my research I started to drift off into movie musical pieces
like The Wiz and stage plays like Hadestown and what I wanted to do is add some hiphop
vocals to sweeten the pie. This piece is a fusion of a southern marching band with
hip-hop lyrics, a musical experience, rock drums and a choir of excited fans ready to
take on the next opponent
