Wake and Create is a modern 1:25sec mosaic of genres piece of music. Born and
raised in Detroit, MI, I have beautiful memories of listening to all types of Motown
classics from the likes of Stevie Wonder, Marvin Gaye, Diana Ross and Michael
Jackson to name a few and I always remembered how beautiful their songs were and
how they made me feel. As I was listening to some soulful classics, I was inspired to
write a piece of music that created those same emotions but I also wanted to put my
own spin on it. I thought, what would it sound like to put a soulful melody with hip-hop
drums then move the beat into a dance-able funky rhythm but suddenly transition the
music to a dark yet heroic moment and finally conclude the track with the soulful
melody, all while listening to hip-hop adlibs in the background. To my surprise this is
what I created. My music is like a melting pot of genres, I want to fuse as much as I can
with hip-hop, because I am hip-hop and I want hear what these songs sound like. I hope
you enjoy this piece of music as much as did creating it.
